Software TELLUS 2.0 - Geographic Information System TELLUS 2.0 corresponds to the newest world standards and trends in the field of GIS/LIS and CAD. TELLUS 2.0 is developed using the big experience of more than 100 companies and organisations- members of TELLUS club, gained during the land reform in Bulgaria 1992 - 1997 with the means of TELLUS -V.1.x.x. TELLUS 2.0 is a system intended for working with PC (personal computers) from IBM PC/AT grade, as transfer over Windows NT working stations. Brief description of the possibilities of TELLUS 2.0
Tellus 2.0 utilizes completely the input-output possibilities of Windows (input devices, scanners, printers, plotters etc., for which drivers for Windows are available).
TELLUS 2.0 uses relational databases for storage of graphic information. Unspecified database can be used, for which there are ODBC or DAPI drivers, for example Oracle, Informix, SYBase, Paradox, Btrieve as the non graphic information can be stored in database as well, which don't support long binary fields.
TELLUS 2.0 works with the basic and allows the definition of new cartographic projections. The graphic information in database is stored in global geographic co-ordinates as double precision floating point numbers (IEEE standard). There are no theoretical limitations of the object number and the number of the points in an object. Unspecified inquiries are kept in the databases through SQL. TELLUS 2.0 fulfils non - standard mixed SQL-graphic inquiries as well (sections, unions, belonging, neighbouring, remoteness, mutual properties as area or perimeter). Complete possibilities are given for introducing, restructuring and creating of new tables in the database .The semantic information can be processed by table-windows and application-windows. Vast number of monochrome, halftone and True Colour raster of image layers is kept (aerophotos, satellite images and all sorts of digital data from the scanning). The raster images are transformed in real time to the selected co-ordinates . A subsystem for preliminary processing of the raster images is included - faults removal, equalising (levelling), Image Processing etc. Varied possibilities are given for creating of decorative image layers-True Type curved line texts, different colours and ways of areas filling. Symbols etc.(True Type) The system comprises development and moulding language. The dialect of LISP - SCHEME of Texas Instruments is chosen. TELLUS SCHEME covers entirely the standards of the language. An interface is created for enlargement of the module system, written in high- level language and compiled to DLL (Dynamic Library for Windows). The management of the system can be completely changed by the consumer according his concrete demands and requirements. TELLUS 2.0 permits building of functional three-dimensional model of the area on the base of unspecified supporting net, horizontal lines, stereo photos etc. The model can be used by all subsystems of TELLUS 2.0. A subsystem is developed for building of network models over graphic data - road network, communications etc. with possibility for creating of different types of mathematical models over the data with TELLUSSCHEME. Tellus Technology has won gold medals in 1991, 1992 and 1997 at the International Technical Plovdiv Exhibitions and Diploma from Hemus’96 military exposition in May 1996.
